Arte dei Suonatori
The most recognizable Polish ensemble on the international music scene performing the music of past eras in a historically informed manner formed by violinists Ewa and Arek Golinski. After years of joint and individual experience, the musicians’ artistic search focuses on a constant exploration of the core of the musical language of composers of past eras, which, combined with historical instruments, has led to the creation of a style that is both historical, modern and thoroughly individual. The vast repertoire of this ensemble exceeds 700 compositions, representing a wide-range of styles and forms from the 17th and 18th century as well as the contemporary era.
Over 30 years in operation Arte dei Suonatori have recorded and released 18 albums produced by renowned record companies (including BIS Records, Alpha, Channel Classics), distinguished by international music critics with awards such as Gramophone Award (Recording of the Year: Concerto in 2003 for Vivaldi’s Violin Concerti “La Stravaganza”) amongst many others.
Joachim Becerra Thomsen
Joachim Becerra Thomsen er 1. solofløjtenist i Det Kgl. Kapel og tidligere 1. solofløjtenist i Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra og Finlands Radio Symfoniorkester og har optrådt som solofløjtenist i Europa og USA med en række andre orkestre og kammerensembler som Philharmonia Orchestra London, Malmö Symfoniorkester, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, DR SymfoniOrkestret, Danmarks Underholdningsorkester etc.
Joachim er modtager af flere priser og legater, både herhjemme og i USA. Han studerede på det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium i Køben- havn med special-studier i tidlig musik-opførselspraksis, og senere afsluttede han et Artist Diploma fra den anerkendte Colburn School i Los Angles.
Ananda Brandão
Ananda Brandão’s musical journey began in childhood, nurtured by her parents and an early love for singing. Initially trained in classical piano at the Conservatoire d’Antony, she later discovered her passion for percussion as a teenager. This led her to the jazz department of the CRR Conservatoire de Versailles, where she earned her diploma in percussion.
Her development as a musician was shaped by masterclasses with renowned percussionists like Kendrick Scott and Airto Moreira. A trip to Brazil, her mother’s homeland, proved particularly inspiring when she met the legendary Flora Purim, who encouraged her to follow her musical path. In 2020, she began studying under André Charlier at the prestigious Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood, where she graduated with honours in 2023. That same year, she took the next step in her career by beginning a master’s degree in jazz at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
Girls’ Choir of Fredensborg Slotskirke
The Girls’ Choir of Fredensborg Palace Chapel is among the country’s finest church choirs. The choir aims to deliver choral singing at the highest level for worship services, high masses, baptisms, and weddings. On special occasions, the choir performs for the Royal Family, and the choir’s patron is Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte.
The Girls’ Choir consists of singers aged 14 to 22, and over the past 5 years, which have achieved an impressive level with a broad repertoire that spans from classical church music to popular music. Currently they are a group of 30 strong voices, providing ample space for personal development and a wonderful sense of community.
Choir of Gonville & Caius College
The Choir of Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge, is one of the UK’s leading collegiate choirs, directed by organist and composer Matthew Martin. With twenty-four singers and two organ scholars, the choir performs a wide range of sacred and secular choral music, from Anglican traditions to newly commissioned works. They sing regular Chapel services, give concerts, record albums, and tour internationally, collaborating with renowned ensembles. Known for reviving forgotten choral works and championing contemporary composers, their recordings have received critical acclaim, including their 2023 debut for Linn Records and upcoming releases in 2024 and 2025.
Pierre Hamon
Since the 1980s, Pierre Hamon has been a key figure in early and medieval music in France, performing with the Gilles Binchois ensemble and co-founding Alla Francesca. He has led projects on Guillaume de Machaut and collaborated with Jordi Savall since 1995. His research extends to traditional music worldwide, studying under Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia and exploring pre-Columbian and Native American flutes. A pioneer in recorder education, he taught at CNSMD Lyon (1994–2023) and now teaches medieval music at HEM Geneva. His acclaimed recordings have earned Golden Diapasons and Victoires de la Musique nominations. As a composer, he scored Pachamama (2018) and several documentaries.
Ellen Hillingsø
Ellen Hillingsø is an actress known for her iconic voice and strong stage presence. She graduated from Aarhus Theatre’s Drama School in 1994 and has played notable roles on Danish stages and in films, as well as in popular TV series. Ellen is also a renowned audiobook narrator, bringing stories to life with her distinctive voice.
Poul Høxbro
Poul Høxbro is a true pioneer in the field of music. He was also chosen as one of 9 flautists from all around the world to take part in the “Magical Flutes” project at Germany’s biggest Folk and World Music Festival in Rudolstadt. He has been called ”the great man of small instruments” and it is true that he is quite unique in the way he has taken the medieval instrument of pipe-&-tabor out of the shadows and into the full glare of concert platforms all over the world. Furthermore he masters instruments as xun, low whistle and traditional Scandinavian willow flute and valdhorn. Always trying to push the instruments to their limits and to renew their repertoire.
Poul Høxbro has created and led several projects with the Danish baroque orchestra, Concerto Copenhagen, and occasionally guest teaches at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. He was music consultant for Robert Eggers movie, The Northman (Universal Pictures, 2022) and played all the flute and horn parts for the sound track. Besides his music, Poul Høxbro is a much sought-after storyteller. He has received outstanding reviews for his dramatic and utterly magic way of drawing an audience into the world of myth and legend – be it in Danish, Swedish, German or English.
Reiko Ichise
Tokyo born viola da gamba player Reiko is one of the most sought after musicians in the UK. After reading musicology, Reiko left Japan to the UK to pursue her study of viola da gamba at the Royal College of Music. Reiko’s passion for chamber music led her to be a member of several prestigious ensembles such as Florilegium, Passacaglia, The King’s Consort, Bach Players and the Elephant House Quartet. Reiko has made numerous critically acclaimed cd recordings and radio broadcasts. From 2009 to 2017, Reiko was a member of award- winning viol consort Fretwork with whom she had a privilege in performing both old and new music.
As a soloist, she is in great demand, regularly performing with many leading orchestras including Academy of Ancient Music, English Baroque Soloists, Gabrieli Consort, Arte dei Suonatori, Britten Sinfonia, Halle Orchestra, appearing in many international festivals and series. Reiko is a viola da gamba professor at the Royal College of Music and lives in London.
David Van Laar
David van Laar is a Dutch countertenor who has performed as a soloist with ensembles including Vox Luminis, the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Phion, Musica Amphion, Berlin Baroque, and the Luthers Bach Ensemble. Recent engagements include a live NPO Radio 4 Christmas broadcast conducted by Klaas Stok, a televised performance of Handel’s Dixit Dominus with Vox Luminis on France 3, and a French tour with Barokopera Amsterdam’s Purcell Gala: William and Mary.
He studied organ before completing vocal studies with Hanneke de Wit (Prince Claus Conservatoire, cum laude) and Xenia Meijer (Conservatory of Amsterdam), and continues coaching with Margreet Honig. David teaches at the Prince Claus Conservatoire and works with the soloists of the Roden Girl Choristers.
Ensemble LuX
Ensemble LuX was founded in 2002 and has specialized in both Swedish and international vocal music. The ensemble has earned a reputation for its technical brilliance and clear sound.
Ensemble LuX has undertaken several tours in Sweden and the United States, including a performance at Carnegie Hall. The ensemble’s latest CD, Retrospective, features vocal music ranging from the Renaissance to the present day.
Peter Navarro-Alonso
Danish-Spanish organist and composer. Educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid.
Over the course of his career, he has given around 400 concerts in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Greece, Turkey, Poland, Latvia, Germany, Russia, and the USA. His programs have often featured newly composed music and improvisational music. He has premiered approximately 70 works and recorded over 10 CDs with newly written score music. He was nominated for the Nordic Council Music Prize (with his trio ALPHA) and has been nominated four times for the Danish Music Awards/P2 Prize. In 2023, he received Denmark’s largest national music award for his work (the Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen Honorary Award).
Since 2021, Peter Navarro-Alonso has been employed as organist at the Church of Our Saviour (Vor Frelsers Kirke).
Bolette Roed
Bolette Roed graduated from the advanced solo performance class at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. Soon after her debut, she was appointed Artist-in-Residence with Danish National Radio and nominated for the Nordic Council’s Music Prize in 2011. She received the Grand Prize of the Jacob Gade Foundation in 2003 and “The Danish Music Critics Prize” in 2014, and was selected for the Danish State Art Council’s “Young Elite” program.
A versatile musician, Bolette works with classical recorder repertoire as well as improvisation, folk, and world music. Her range spans from medieval and baroque to contemporary, and she has premiered numerous works. She continually seeks to expand the recorder’s musical scope.
Since 2004, Bolette has toured as a soloist with ensembles including Arte dei Suonatori, Concerto Copenhagen, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Holland Baroque, and the Royal Danish Orchestra. She also performs with her own ensembles Alpha, Concert Pastoral, and Elephant House Quartet. Her CD releases include the first-ever recording of Frans Brüggen’s complete arrangements for recorder of J. S. Bach’s solo cello suites and violin partitas, and a selection of Vivaldi’s violin concertos.
Talent Academy
Founded in 2023, the Talent Academy supports young musicians eager to specialize in early music. As part of the program, music students and recent graduates can take part in masterclasses with international baroque specialists at the Copenhagen Baroque Festival. They will also have the opportunity to perform with the festival orchestra, Arte dei Suonatori, attend rehearsals and concerts, present their own recital, and fully engage in festival activities—building valuable connections within the baroque music community.
In 2025, the Talent Academy welcomes Clémentine Maillard (baroque violin), Juliette Wagner (traverso), Cristina Trulsen (recorder), Julius Vilfred Hartung (harpsichord) and Anna Johannson (baroque cello), among others. Catch them live at their late-night festival concert!
Laura Trujillo
Laura Trujillo is a distinguished cellist, musicologist, and educator specializing in 18th-century chamber music and historical performance. Holding a Ph.D. in Musicology from the University of Oregon and a Master’s in Baroque Violoncello from the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, she combines rigorous academic research with an active performance career. She has taught at institutions such as the University of Oregon and participated in projects like the Demos initiative at the Philharmonie de Paris. Passionate about interdisciplinary learning, she has contributed to scholarly publications and international conferences, shaping the dialogue on historically informed performance.
